Updated for 2007, the popular, Award Winning MSR Hubba Hubba Tent is now even lighter. A new pole and hub system make this tent about 7 oz less than the 2006 model. The Hubba Hubba Tent has receved rave reviews for it’s roomy space and double door design.
At the semi-annual Outdoor Retailer Show in Salt Lake City, MSR introduced their long overdue Reactor Stove that will compete with the Jetboil PCS. MSR Claims that the new Reactor Stove will be the fastest, most fuel efficient stove ever. I did get to see the stove in action and I do admit that this little powerhouse has some sophisticated technology built in. They are able to achieve consistant flame output by adding an internal regulator that equalizes fuel pressure. Throw in a heat exchanger, radiant burner and built in windscreen and you have the ultimate, highly efficient stove. MSR claims that the Reactor will boil 1 liter of water in 3 minutes. All this comes at a price however. Expect the MSR Reactor to go on sale in the spring of 2007 for 139.95.

The days of packing 60+ pounds in your 6000 cubic inch pack for a 5 day getaway are gone (or at least they should be). The days of lightening up your pack are here. So what is “going light?” There are varying opinions of lightweight backpacking. To some, a 35 lb pack is going light because they previously had a pack that weighed 70 lbs! To others, 35 lbs would be like hauling gold bars in your pack. We don’t want to define what is or is not ultra light backpacking. Our 10 tips are basic ideas to help starters lose extra weight in their pack regardless if you have a 70 lb pack or a 35 lb pack.
